
Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has seen a remarkable upswing in the first quarter of 2025, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The country welcomed 722,276 international visitors from January to March this year — marking a 13.6% increase compared to the 635,784 arrivals recorded during the same timeframe in 2024.
Tourism earnings also saw a healthy rise, surpassing the USD 1 billion mark. Revenue reached USD 1,122.3 million in Q1 2025, reflecting a 9.4% growth over the USD 1,025.9 million generated in the corresponding quarter last year.
This notable growth highlights Sri Lanka’s recovery and rising appeal as a top travel destination in South Asia.
