Gold Prices in Sri Lanka Hit All-Time High Amid Global Market Surge

Gold prices in Sri Lanka have soared to unprecedented levels today, mirroring the sharp uptick in international gold rates.

As per data released by GOLDCeylon Gold News Network, a trusted source for daily gold rate updates in Sri Lanka, both 22K and 24K gold prices have surged to new historical peaks in the local market this morning.

The cost of a 22-karat gold sovereign has increased to Rs. 242,000, a significant jump from Rs. 238,300 recorded yesterday.

Similarly, the price of a 24-karat gold sovereign has climbed to Rs. 262,000, compared to Rs. 259,000 the day before.

Indika Bandara, Assistant Director of the Precious Metals Analysis Bureau at Sri Lanka’s National Gem and Jewellery Authority, attributed the hike to ongoing global economic shifts. He noted that the international gold market has hit new heights following recent tariff announcements by former US President Donald Trump.

Bandara highlighted key drivers behind the surge, including a declining US Dollar, heightened demand for gold as a safe-haven asset, and the intensifying trade conflict between the US and China.
