Sri Lanka Defeats West Indies by 5 Wickets to Secure ODI Series Win

Sri Lanka clinched the three-match ODI series 2-0 after defeating West Indies by 5 wickets in the second ODI at Pallekele International Stadium. Captain Charith Asalanka led the charge with an unbeaten half-century, supported by Nishan Madushka and Sadeera Samarawickrama, who both contributed 38 runs each.

Sri Lanka comfortably chased down the target of 190 in 38.2 overs after rain reduced the match to 44 overs. West Indies, after being put into bat, were bowled out for 189, with Sherfane Rutherford’s 80 and Gudakesh Motie’s unbeaten 50 being the standout performances in a ninth-wicket partnership that saved West Indies from a collapse.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominated early on, but Rutherford and Motie’s record 119-run stand for the ninth wicket gave the visitors some hope. However, Sri Lanka’s disciplined batting ensured they reached the target with ease, sealing the series win with one match remaining.
