Sri Lanka Sees 17.5% Rise in Workers’ Remittances, Reaching $573 Million in January 2025

Sri Lanka’s worker remittances surged to US$ 573 million in January 2025, marking a 17.5% increase compared to US$ 487.6 million recorded in the same period last year. The latest figures were revealed in the weekly economic report published by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

This growth follows a strong December 2024 performance, during which the country received US$ 613.8 million in foreign remittances. The steady rise in remittance inflows highlights the resilience of overseas Sri Lankan workers in supporting the nation’s economy.
