Former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra has announced her resignation from the position of National Organizer of the Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya, the women’s wing of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
While stepping down from the role, Premachandra clarified that she remains committed to the party and intends to contest the 2024 General Election. Her decision comes in response to frustrations stemming from accusations made within the party, alleging that certain organizers failed to perform their duties during the presidential election campaign.
Premachandra acknowledged that these internal criticisms influenced her decision to resign. However, she expressed confidence in her political career, believing that she will be re-elected to Parliament in the upcoming election.
