A 65-year-old dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Sweden has been taken into custody for allegedly harassing passengers and attempting to sexually assault female flight attendants on a flight from India to Sri Lanka.
According to reports, the suspect had boarded the flight from Mumbai, India, and arrived at Katunayake Airport early this morning. Authorities stated that he was heavily intoxicated during the journey, causing discomfort to fellow passengers and engaging in inappropriate behavior towards two female crew members.
Flight security personnel intervened and restrained the individual before alerting the pilot. Upon landing, the Airport Police arrested the suspect. A medical examination later confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The arrested individual is expected to be presented before the court today for legal proceedings.
