The National People’s Power (NPP) party secured a significant victory in the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election, winning 15 out of the 17 electoral divisions. The NPP garnered a total of 17,295 votes in the election held on the 26th.

- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB): 6 seats, 7,924 votes
- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP): 3 seats, 3,597 votes
- United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA): 2 seats, 2,612 votes
- Independent Group: 2 seats, 2,568 votes
- People’s United Freedom Alliance: 1 seat, 1,350 votes
- National People’s Party : 1 seat, 521 votes
Notably, the JVP’s former Southern Provincial Council member Nishantha Perera led the NPP team, positioning him as a likely candidate for the Chairmanship. Interestingly, all 14 elected members alongside Perera are newcomers, reflecting a fresh wave in the council’s leadership.
Voter turnout was at 63%, with 36,825 of the 55,643 eligible voters casting their ballots. Out of these, 520 ballots were rejected.
