The Ministry of Finance has released a special gazette notification regarding vehicle imports. This announcement was issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
The gazette, issued under the 1969 Import and Export Control Act, outlines regulations for releasing imported vehicles related to open letters of credit (LCs). According to the notification, customs clearance for such vehicles will be permitted from December 18, 2024, to January 27, 2025.
This decision is expected to provide clarity and facilitate smoother processes for vehicle importers during this specified period.
