“Squid Game” Season 3 Premieres Globally on Netflix

The highly anticipated third and final season of the globally acclaimed South Korean TV series “Squid Game” premiered worldwide today, June 27, 2025, on Netflix. All six episodes of the new season are now available for streaming.

Comprising just six episodes, this is the shortest season of the series so far—compared to nine episodes in Season 1 and seven in Season 2. Despite the reduced episode count, producers promise that Season 3 will deliver the most intense and emotionally gripping storytelling yet.

The third season picks up right after the emotional conclusion of Season 2. Main character Seong Gi-hun (Player 456) continues to grapple with the psychological trauma of his past experiences in the deadly game. Now driven by a sense of vengeance and purpose, Gi-hun sets out to dismantle the game from within.

The mysterious “Front Man” (played by Lee Byung-hun) still controls the brutal competition, which returns with even deadlier challenges and stricter rules. Viewers can expect high-stakes scenarios including a lethal maze game and a perilous rope-jumping contest. These life-or-death challenges force Gi-hun and other contestants to confront profound moral choices and existential dilemmas, keeping the series’ core themes of humanity and survival front and center.

The ongoing investigation by police officer Jun-ho, the Front Man’s brother, continues to unravel the dark secrets behind the operation, while Gi-hun’s emotional and mental struggles deepen as he faces increasingly complex trials.

Originally premiering in 2021, “Squid Game” quickly became one of the most popular international series in Netflix history. The show evolved into a global cultural phenomenon and played a key role in expanding global interest in South Korean media and storytelling.

Season 3 is expected to bring a powerful conclusion to the series’ legacy, blending intense action, psychological depth, and societal critique.
