The newly launched ‘e-Traffic’ mobile application by the Sri Lanka Police has garnered 120 complaints related to traffic violations within just 24 hours of its introduction, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Police Media Spokesperson, Attorney-at-Law Buddhika Manathunga.
The complaints, submitted by the public, include both video footage and photographic evidence of traffic violations. SSP Manathunga highlighted that this initiative, introduced under the “Clean Sri Lanka” program, aims to reduce road violations by encouraging public participation in reporting traffic offenses.
The app was officially launched on January 1 under the patronage of Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya. The program is managed by the operations center at Police Headquarters, where all submitted evidence is reviewed and forwarded to relevant authorities for further investigation.
The e-Traffic app is currently available for free download via the E-services section on the official police website (www.police.lk). It is compatible with Android devices and aims to streamline public reporting of traffic offenses.
