According to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), India and Russia continue to lead as the top two countries contributing to the island’s tourism boom. The visitor count has already exceeded the 208,253 recorded in January 2024, indicating steady growth in the sector.
The second week of January saw the highest influx of visitors, with 57,561 arrivals. The third week followed closely with 57,473 tourists, while the first week recorded 54,853 arrivals.
India remained the largest source market, contributing 37,383 visitors this month. Russia secured the second spot with 29,266 arrivals. Additionally, significant numbers of tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, Germany, China, and France, further boosting Sri Lanka’s thriving tourism industry.
