International visitors planning to travel to the United States will now face an additional charge as part of a new regulation introduced under a recently passed domestic policy bill backed by the Trump administration. The newly imposed “visa integrity fee” will be at least $250 and is to be added to the existing costs of obtaining a U.S. visa.
This surcharge will be applicable to all travelers who are required to secure nonimmigrant visas. The rule covers a wide range of individuals, including tourists, business professionals, international students, and other short-term visitors. According to the U.S. State Department, nearly 11 million nonimmigrant visas were granted during the 2024 fiscal year alone.
This move is seen as part of broader efforts to tighten oversight of U.S. immigration processes and enhance the integrity of the visa system.
