Zimbabwe Sets New Record for Highest T20 Total with 344 Against Gambia in WC Qualifier

Zimbabwe made history on Wednesday by setting a new record for the highest-ever total in T20 cricket, scoring a staggering 344 for 4 against Gambia in the T20 World Cup Africa sub-regional qualifier. Sikandar Raza led the onslaught with a breathtaking century, scoring an unbeaten 133 off just 33 balls, including 15 sixes. His century is Zimbabwe’s first in the format and the second-fastest in T20I history.

Zimbabwe surpassed Nepal’s previous record total of 314 and also set a new mark for most sixes in an innings with 27. Gambia, in response, crumbled for 54, giving Zimbabwe the biggest-ever win in T20s by 290 runs.

The match at Ruaraka Sports Club Ground in Nairobi saw Zimbabwe’s explosive intent from the start, with 50 runs scored in just 3.2 overs. Tadiwanashe Marumani hit a 13-ball fifty, helping Zimbabwe reach 100 before the powerplay ended. Brian Bennett (50 off 26) and Clive Mandande (53 off 17) added further to the carnage.

Gambia’s bowlers had no answers, with Musa Jorbateh conceding a record 93 runs in four overs. Zimbabwe, unbeaten in the tournament, now holds four wins, while Gambia is still searching for their first victory.
